Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner, observing all Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Read and interpret diagrams, drawings and specifications
  • Prepare layouts for machinery and controls
  • Install underground wiring and surface mount and/or overhead cables
  • Install, replace and repair electrical distribution and utilization equipment
  • Properly splice, terminate, and label conductors
  • Test and measure voltages, ampacities, insulation integrity, continuity, and other electrical characteristics
  • Ground and bond electrical equipment, systems and structures

 

Work Environment:

  • Commercial/Industrial construction sites
  • Operational facilities and businesses
  • Physical load: high, up to 50lbs
  • Location: customer sites, warehouse, working at heights, supervision
  • Hazard: high, exposure to high voltages, PPE required, fall protection, use of power tools and other equipment

 

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities/Demands:

  • Physically pushing/pulling various types of cables and conductors
  • Using various hand and power tools (drills, saws, pipe benders, screwdrivers, etc.)
  • Safely and responsibly operating elevated work platforms (scissor lifts).
  • Performing duties on platform ladders, scaffold and/or elevated work platforms.
  • Lifting, climbing, standing for long periods of time, working at heights.
  • Working in extreme temperatures.
  • Working on a shift rotation (when required).

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be over 18 years of age with a Grade 12 education/high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Construction & Maintenance Electrician Pre-Apprentice Program
  • Registration in the Construction & Maintenance Apprenticeship Program
  • Demonstrate high accountability and sense of ownership.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with minimal supervision and to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate reliability in completing tasks within established timelines and parameters.
  • Demonstrate effective and efficient troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build or general tender work, up to any size and complexity.
  • Prepare materials, labour and equipment cost estimations according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications; without supervision, including project closings.
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements & prepares itemized lists.
  • Perform high volume of price change notices.
  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and sub-trades and negotiate with them as necessary to obtain most competitive and profitable prices.
  • Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
  • Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
  • Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
  • Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • All other duties as assigned to meet Company objectives.

 

Role Requirements:

  • 4+ years past electrical quoting experience
  • Experience with Accubid or equivalent Quoting Software is mandatory.
  • Organization and Time Management Skills are essential
  • Communication is a key component of this role, applicant must be fluent in English. Bilingualism or multilingualism would be considered an asset.
  • Required to have up to date knowledge of the Ontario and Canadian Electrical Code.
  • The ability to read and understand electrical drawings, single line drawings, building blueprints, and general contractor specifications.
  • Experience quoting wastewater projects would be an asset
  • Engineering degree would be considered an asset
  • Electrical 309A Licence and field experience in the industrial sector would be an asse

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation to closeout.
  • Manage multiple electrical projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standard.
  • Create and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Lead project planning, design, and execution activities.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality and safety standards.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that project documentation is completed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report project progress, identifying and resolving issues and risks as they arise.
  • Manage project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project reports.
  • Share lessons learned, risks and opportunities with other team members.
  • Provide a positive role model for the team in delivering optimal, customer-driven service to the project.
  • Embrace, promote and reward behaviors that are consistent with the project guiding principles.
  • Drive Catch Engineering involvement and value-addition in all aspects of the project lifecycle.

 

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelors in Engineering or a Diploma in Technology in a related field or equivalent relative experience. P.Eng or PMP is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, electrical preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • An asset to have working knowledge Electrical Utilities, Energy Services, Energy Storage, Power Generation or Renewables.
  • An asset to have previous work experience with substation design.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, design and construction processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be based in Ontario or close surrounding area.
